Richard A. Schell is a partner at The SCA Group LLC. Mr. Schell has had extensive financial management experience following a foundation as an Audit and Assurance Partner with international accounting and consulting firm KPMG. As a seasoned CFO and EVP, strategist and consensus-builder adept in driving rapid development of entrepreneurial and emerging growth companies, Schell has built companies both through organic growth and through acquisitions and rollups. He has demonstrated treasury skills in a variety of markets, including IPO’s, follow-on offerings and private placements. He has negotiated complex agreements and built key relationships with banking and venture capital communities. He has led numerous successful acquisitions and successfully negotiated sales of companies. Throughout his career, he has successfully managed high performance teams in achieving bottom line objectives. Schell’s extensive experience includes operational, financial and cash management, banking and corporate finance, accounting, human resources, financial reporting and other disciplines required to successfully build companies.
Mr. Schell has been the CFO/EVP of two publicly traded companies, and the CFO of 6 private technology companies in his 22 years since leaving public accounting. While CFO of Boca Raton based Naviant, Inc., he directed all aspects of the financial, legal and human resources activities for this $70 million marketing firm. After completing a $30 million private placement, he negotiated and integrated three strategic acquisitions in three months, and then was instrumental in negotiating and completing the sale of Naviant to a large public company for $135 million.
At Daleen Technologies in Boca Raton, he served as the Chief Financial Officer and EVP raising over $100 million in private and public capital, including managing the Company’s IPO raising over $50 million.
At KPMG, Schell specialized in the Financial Services practice and was the practice leader for banking and other financial services for the Nashville office. He was a frequent speaker at financial services industry conferences and conventions.
Mr. Schell is a CPA and was the President of the Nashville Chapter of the Tennessee Society of CPA’s and a member of the Board of Directors of the statewide Society. He graduated with honors from Western Kentucky University.
