
John Calia is a Partner in The SCA Group, LLC. Calia has over 35 years of officer level experience in a wide variety of industries including business advisory, internet, healthcare, automotive, finance, consumer banking, call center management and precious metals. Calia specializes in business development, strategic planning, financial service operations, technology and mergers and acquisitions.
Previously, he was Managing Partner of Tatum, LLC, the country’s leading advising firm focused on the Office of the CFO. During his tenure, he rebuilt the S. Florida practice to one of the firm’s most profitable offices. Prior to Tatum, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of three entrepreneurial companies including an Internet applications service provider, a healthcare service company and a corporation formed to roll up retail automotive services. As a principal in the purchase and sale of several companies, he has raised venture and angel capital and executed turnaround strategies for small and medium-sized companies.
Mr. Calia began his career as a naval officer serving five years active duty including assignments as Executive Officer of a Navy minesweeper and Officer in Charge of an aviation refueling operation. After leaving the Navy, he began his corporate career at Citibank and subsequently moved to Goldman Sachs & Co., where he was responsible for precious metals trading activities. Later, Mr. Calia served as Senior Vice President at Citicorp Diners Club, where he was responsible for the Corporate Credit Card program. After leaving Citicorp, he was Executive Vice President and General Manager of the American subsidiary of Canadian-based firm, FCA International, Ltd.
Mr. Calia also serves on the board of Operation Homefront, a national non-profit providing support to families of deployed military personnel.
Mr. Calia holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy.
